Connecting to a Remote Computer with TeamViewer
Now that your account has been set up, it’s time to learn how to connect to a remote PC with TeamViewer.
Connecting to the remote desktop can be done in two ways: creating a remote session, or using ID and password.
Create and Share a Remote Session
This method will require the email address of the user whose computer will be controlled. So, we suggest you ask for the email address before starting. Once you get it, follow the instructions below:
- Launch the TeamViewer Remote software on your device.
- Select the Remote Support tab within the program.
- Click on the Create a session button to begin setting up a remote support session.
- Type a session name that will help you and the participant identify the session.
- Share the session with the participant by entering their email in the designated field and clicking Save.
- If you prefer to share the session using a different method, click on the copy icon to access alternative sharing options. You can share the session link, session code, or an invitation text that includes the session link. Additionally, you can share the session via WhatsApp.
- Once you’ve selected your preferred sharing method, click on Save to store the session and initiate the remote support session.
To join the remote session, the participants only need to click Join session in their email. Then, they will be directed to open the TeamViewer Remote if it’s already installed on their computer. Otherwise, a page to download TeamViewer for Windows or macOS will appear if they haven’t got the app installed.
Use ID and Password
You’ll need to ask for your participant’s ID and password if you are using this method.
Find ID and Password
To find the ID and password, do these:
- Launch the TeamViewer Remote software on your device.
- Navigate to the Remote Support menu within the program.
- Go to the bottom of the Your sessions window and select Connect here.
- Your unique ID and password will be generated and displayed on the screen, which you can provide to the participant so that they can connect to your device.
Connect via ID and Password
Once you’ve got the participant’s ID and password in your hand, it’s time to connect to the remote PC using TeamViewer. Here’s how:
- Launch the TeamViewer Remote software on your device.
- Access the Remote Support menu on the left-hand side of the interface.
- Under the Your sessions section, click on the Connect with your ID and password button.
