Your Google Pixel Buds are more than just earbuds for listening to music and answering phone calls. That is far from the case. If you know how to use it correctly, you’ll be astounded by what your earbuds are capable of.
Language translation is one of your Pixel Buds’ abilities. The concept is straightforward. You only need to connect your earbuds to the Google Translate app on your Android phone to instantly translate languages.
This feature is extremely useful when meeting someone who does not speak the same language as you or when visiting a country where you do not speak the language.
Another good thing is it currently supports 40 languages:
|Chinese (Mandarin only)||Hindi||Norwegian||Swedish|
Before you proceed to the transcribing feature, you need to see the requirements below:
- Internet connection
- Google Account
- The latest version of the Google app
- The latest version of the Google Translate app
- Enable the Google Assistant
To activate the Google Assistant on your Android devices, press and hold the home button. Then, tap Turn On to activate Google Assistant on your device and follow the on-screen instructions.
After you have prepared all the requirements above, let’s move to the tutorial.
How to Use Google Pixel Buds to Translate Languages in Real-Time
Before translating, you need to tell Google Assistant the selected language you are interpreting to.
1 Touch and hold the earbud or say, “Hey Google” or “OK Google” to activate your Google Assistant.
2. Tell the language by saying, “Help me speak French.”
Google Assistant will launch the Google Translate app in conversation mode.
You may now begin to speak your questions or statements. Then, Google Translate will instantly assist you in interpreting them in French or other languages that you have chosen.
Press and hold either earbud whenever you need to speak. When you’ve finished speaking, remove your finger from the earbud.
After that, your device will translate and read out loud the interpreted language.
If the person you’re speaking with is responding, tap the microphone icon in your Google Translate app. When he finishes speaking, the app will translate his response into your language. The translated response will then be read aloud by Google and heard through your Google Pixel Buds.
Here are some tips to get the best result when you use Google Pixel Buds to translate into other languages in real-time:
- Make sure you are in a quiet environment when using the transcribe feature.
