What is Safe Mode?
Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode in Windows 11. It starts your computer with only the basic drivers and programs needed to start up.
A Safe Mode comes in two versions: Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking.
Safe Mode starts Windows with a limited set of drivers and services so that you can start your computer without any hardware or software conflicts. In Safe Mode, you can troubleshoot problems by using the built-in Administrator account to change settings or run programs that might have caused the problem.
Meanwhile, Safe Mode with Networking is used when you want to connect to the Internet for help. This mode starts Windows in Safe Mode but keeps your network connections active so that you can connect to other computers on your network or reach out for help online.

How to Start Windows 11 in Safe Mode
Method 1: From Settings
1. Hit the Windows key + I button at the same time to launch Settings. Or, you can click Start > Settings.
2. Click System > Recovery.
3. Select Restart now under the Recovery options. Then, you’ll PC will reboot.
4. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. If prompted, insert your BitLocker recovery key.
5. A list of options will show up after your computer restarts. Press F4 to start your Windows 11 in Safe Mode. Press F5 if you want to use Safe Mode with Networking – it allows you to use the internet on Safe Mode.
Method 2: From the sign-in screen
Use this method if you cannot open Settings on your computer.
1. On the sign-in screen, hold down the Shift button and select Power > Restart.
2. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. If prompted, insert your BitLocker recovery key.
3. A list of options will show up after your computer restarts. Press F4 to start your Windows 11 in Safe Mode. Press F5 if you want to use Safe Mode with Networking – it allows you to use the internet on Safe Mode.
