Windows 11 has a built-in screen recorder that you can use for free, which is the Xbox Game Bar. This tool is really easy to use and it can be used for free without any additional software.

The Xbox Game Bar lets you record your gameplay, capture clips of your favourite moments, and broadcast live on Mixer all from one place. It is quite useful if you want to create video tutorials or gameplay clips.

How to Screen Record on Windows 11 using Xbox Game Bar

1. Click the Magnifying Glass icon on the taskbar and type Xbox.

2. Select Xbox Game Bar from the list of results.

Alternatively, you can press the Windows logo key + G simultaneously to open Xbox Game Bar. 

Your screen will turn darker and a set of toolbars will appear on top of your screen. 

3. Click Capture to show the control box.

4. To screen record on Windows 11, open the app that you want to record and click Record. 

You can also press the Windows logo key + Alt + R simultaneously as the screen recorder Windows 11 shortcut. 

By default, the audio is disabled. So, if you want to screen record on Windows 11 with audio, click the microphone icon to enable it. Then, it will start recording your screen along with the audio. 

While recording, a capture status window will appear on your screen. You can see how long the recording video is going on. 

5. To stop the recording, click Record or press the Windows logo key + Alt + R simultaneously once again. 

Then, you’ll see a notification saying, “Game clip recorded” on the right side of your screen.

To see your recordings, you can go back to the Xbox Game Bar control bar and select Show all captures. 

Then, you’ll see a list of recorded clips. To play the clips, just select them. You can also rename the clips to make them easy to recognize and delete them.

You can also navigate to the folder containing all of the clips by selecting Open file location. If prompted, select Continue to confirm. A window explorer will appear on your screen, displaying all of the recorded clips you’ve created.

Then, you can import the clips to your video editing app if you want to trim or edit them.

How to Enable Xbox Game Bar

If the Xbox Game Bar does not appear when you try to open it, this indicates that it is still disabled. 

To enable Xbox Game Bar, follow the simple steps below:

1. Open Windows Settings by pressing the Windows logo key + I.

2. In the search bar, type Xbox and press the Down arrow key on your keyboard until you hear “Enable Xbox Game Bar”. Then, press Enter.

3. To enable Xbox Game Bar, hit Spacebar.

From now on, you can launch Xbox Game Bar by pressing the Windows logo key + G simultaneously on your keyboard.

The Xbox Game Bar provides more benefits than simply capturing or recording the screen on your Windows 11 device. It also provides access and controls that gamers would find useful, such as performance statistics, sound controls, Xbox Chat, Xbox Social, and the ability to play Spotify.

2. Audio

It allows you to control the volume of your speakers, system sounds, chat, background apps, and other sounds separately. So, you can adjust which volume you want to increase and reduce. 

3. Gallery

It shows your recording clips and screenshots.

4. Performance

It shows the performance statistics of your computer while running apps or games. In the performance, you can see the CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, and FPS. 

5. Resources

It shows the apps and services that are using system resources so you know which apps to quit to increase the performance of your computer.

6. Spotify

Connect to your Spotify account so that you can listen to your favourite playlist while playing games.

7. Xbox Achievements

See your progress and achievements.

8. Xbox Chat and Xbox Social

Send texts or voices to your friends privately or in groups.
