1. Fast Pair Google Pixel Buds
This is the first essential Google Pixel Buds tip that you must do before proceeding with other tips.
Perform a fast pair to connect your Google Pixel Buds to your phone quickly.
1. Turn on Bluetooth on your device.
2. Charge your Google Pixel Buds case with the earbuds inside.
3. Open the case.
4. Press and hold the pairing button at the back of the case until you see a white light flashing on the case. If the blinking light is white or orange, close the case and open it again. Then, press and hold the pairing button once again.
5 You’ll see a notification on your phone. Tap on it to pair Pixel Buds with your phone.
2. Enable In-Ear Detection
Do you know that your Google Pixel Buds can automatically pause audio when you take them out of your ears and resume audio when you put them back in?
In-ear detection is a smart feature of Google Pixel Buds that detects whether the earbuds are in or out of your ears.
When you pull them out of your ears, the music that you are listening to will be paused instantly. And when you place them back in your ears, the music will continue playing automatically.
This feature is very useful when you need to listen to your surrounding for a second.
To enable/disable the in-ear detection feature on your Google Pixel Buds, here’s what you need to do:
1. Connect Google Pixel Buds to your phone.
2. If you are using a Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Bluetooth and select the Settings icon next to the paired Pixel Buds name.

The gestures allow you to play, pause, skip, and return the previous track, including changing the volume.
You can also connect it to Google Assistant to enable voice commands. It increases the flexibility of the commands you can issue.

4. Gesture to manage phone calls

Besides using gestures to control media, it is also quite handy to use them to manage phone calls.
You can use the gestures on Google Pixel Buds to receive, end, make or ignore a phone call.
- Single-tap: answer a phone call
- Double-tap: end or ignore a phone call
- Touch and press: make a phone call using Google Assistant.
To make a phone call, you can say “Hey Google” and then tell the Google Assistant to make a phone call from your Contact, e.g. “Call Jimmy.”
If the person you mention is saved in your Contact, Google Assistant will start to make a phone call.
5. Boost the bass

1. Connect Pixel Buds with your phone.
2. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.

6. Adjust sound automatically
Google Pixel Buds are intelligent enough to adjust the sound volume based on the noise in your surroundings, a feature known as Adaptive Sound.
Adaptive Sound detects whether you are in a quiet environment, such as a cafe or an office, or a busy environment, such as a street. Regardless of where you are, it will analyze your surroundings and automatically adjust the volume level.
To turn on Adaptive Sound, here’s what you need to do:
1. Connect Pixel Buds with your phone.
2. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.
Other Android phones: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
3. Select Sound > Adaptive Sound.
4. Turn on Adaptive Sound.
When you manually adjust the volume, Adaptive Sound will be temporarily disabled. The reason for this is that Pixel Buds does not want to change the volume you prefer.
When you enter a new environment, Adaptive Sound will be activated automatically.
7. Translate languages

You can use the Google Pixel Buds to translate what you are saying into another language instantly.
This tip will require you to install the Google Translate app on your phone. After that, every time you want to translate to another language, you only need to turn on the Google Assistant by saying “OK Google” or “Hey Google”. Then, you can say “Help me speak French” or another desired language.

8. Enabling Attention Alerts
This is an experimental, yet useful feature that Google Pixel Buds is developing.
Have you ever heard about people getting a crashed on the street because they are wearing an earphone or similar stories?
This case might happen to anyone when they are wearing earbuds on the street or in crowded places. The earbuds block the surrounding sound which makes them become unaware of their environment.
Due to this reason, Google develops the Attention Alert feature that will help you aware of the situation near you. Attention Alert works by detecting a sudden sound change happening around you.
When it detects an unusual sound, it will lower the volume so that you notice something is happening. Currently Attention Alert will turn on when there are a baby crying, a dog barking, and an emergency vehicle siren.
After a few seconds, Attention Alert will turn off automatically. If the unusual sound happens in less than 1 minute, Attention Alert will ignore it.
Here’s how to enable Attention Alert:
1. Connect Pixel Buds with your phone.
2. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.
Other Android phones: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
3. Select Sound.
4. Go to the Experimental section, expand Attention Alert and turn it on.
9. Find your Pixel Buds

Google Pixel Buds are quite small so it’s not surprising if you can lose them. When you lose them or one of the earbuds, you can ring your Pixel Buds if you are sure that it is still near you. Or, check the last location if it’s offline.
Ring your Pixel Buds
This method only works if your earbuds are still connected to your device. You will hear a loud sound when you activate it.
1. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.
Other Android phones: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
2. Select Find device.
3. Tap the lost earbud that you want to find. It will sound for about 20 seconds.
4. When you have found the lost earbuds, tap on them or quit the Find device window to stop the sound.
See the last location
If your earbuds are offline or not connected to your phone, you can check the last location. So you can come back to that location to find the earbuds.
1. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.
Other Android phones: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
2. Select Find device.
3. Tap Last known location > Find My Device.
4. Tap your Pixel Buds.
10. Disable automatic firmware updates
Google Pixel Buds will update firmware automatically by default. If you don’t like it, you can disable the automatic update feature.
1. Google Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings > Connected devices > Pixel Bud’s settings.
Other Android phones: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
2. Tap More settings > Firmware update.
3. Turn off the automatic updates.
11. Reset Google Pixel Buds
Note: Resetting your Google Pixel Buds will erase all settings and information saved on your device. Proceed with care.
1. Connect your Google Pixel Buds to the power source to charge it.
2. With the Pixel Buds seated in, open the lid of the case.
3. Touch and hold the pairing button for 30 seconds.
4. If you see the status light flashing, release the pairing button.
5. The light will flash white and orange which means it is still resetting. Once it’s done, the status light will turn white.
